Animals receptive nature

Altough my main intention for learning reiki was to help animals when they were hurt...I didn't really apply it on animals and my practices were concentrated on humans. I love animals deeply, somehow I connect more with them than with humans. Maybe is because I know they love you regardless of your appearance, and they seem to have this innate intelligence that is aligned with the Divine. They posses an ancient knowledge that allows them to live in the present and aware of their surroundings.

I noticed that when I did reiki on myself, my cats would get close to me or sleep on top of me. When I do reiki for someone else I have to close the door or the cats would jump on the person...I tought it was just coincidence, but the more I think about it the more sense it makes...they wanted reiki too!

One morning around 3:30 am I was going to work and saw this opposum dead on the middle of the street. Then I saw a little creature crawling trying to survive and make himself safe. I picked up the baby oppossum not bigger than my index finger and remember telling him...You little one, stay alive by the time I come back and I will help you. "Mimoso" as I called him, was hungry and well alive by the time I came back from work. I remember him clinging his paws to my finger, hence I knew he will fight for his life with determination. "Mimoso" teached me that even in the worst circumstances you must fight for your life. Life is a wonderful gift and we sometimes take life for granted or we want to die because we are depressed and discouraged...And here comes "Mimoso" with zero chances at life, not able to feed without his mom, crawling with alll his might to get safe. One day after three years, I found him dead...I was devastated and sad. One week after he died, I had a reiki session and I saw his face he had pink flowers on his head and I knew he was fine.

My first animal reiki session (at least in a deliberate and conscious manner) was to "Helsing" my brother's dog. One of "Helsing's" front legs was swollen and had a cut; He couldn't touch the floor with this leg. He was in a lot of pain and it was late at night. I went with the dog and laid along his side on the floor while I tried to send him reiki. "Helsing" wouldn't allow me to touch his leg and I just touched him on the head. Around 3 minutes later, he relaxed enough to let me put my hands close to his leg...5 minutes later he was asleep. About 45 minutes later, my brother got home and I was informing him of how he needed to take "Helsing" to the vet's office and then he comes out of the room using all of his legs and playing around like nothing had happened! I learned that we should allow ourselves to heal, we must enjoy life while we can and be happy if we are healthy.

The second animal that I gave reiki to was my female dog "Kira". "Kira" was about 3-4 months old when she entered our yard alone trying to escape from her owners that were beating her up. She somehow found comfort with 4 dogs barking loudly at her and didn't allow any human close to her because she would attack. We allowed her to stay and I would speak to her while sending her reiki from a distance and she would relax just a little, but she was still defensive. I continued sending her reiki the second day while I fed her; she would still be growling if I got too close to her, but she allowed me to touch her for a minute or two. The third day "Kira" received me wagging her tail and she hugged me with so much love..."Kira" showed me in that instant how to trust again, how to forgive and allow life to continue without fear.

Every pet that I own somehow enters my life. I don't go looking for another pet to adopt, but they seem to come to me just like these teachings arrived to me. Somehow, the lessons are there for all of us; everyone needs to learn different things because we all are at different stages in our personal life. Remember the teachers and lessons are around us, sometimes we don't even look at them...but, if we decide to...we may just learn what we needed to.

It's such a blessing that you are sharing this beautiful healing energy with animals. They need it just as much as humans (plants love it, too), and they may respond even better than humans especially those who block the energy with their own subconscious programming or "don't have time" for Reiki healing (when they prefer to rely on a prescription or medical procedure). Animals always seem to be receptive and appreciative. Lovely story.

This hub touched my heart. I too found a little dog that I named Lily 9 years ago. She is very old and sick now with dementia. I give her reiki everyday and it seems to calm her down. You are so right with everything you said in your article about animals. I love your hubs on reiki. You are very special. Thank you for sharing.

Caroline thanks for your words of encouragement. It is so awesome that you and Lily have each other. When someone has a deep love for nature and animals like you do; I know I found a person with a big heart.
